Brit Bennett’s debut novel is a story of young love -romantic, familial, and platonic – and the way that those early relationship shape the rest of a person’s life. I’ve read really mixed reviews of the collective voice of “the mothers” in the novel, but it really worked for me, and I especially liked how the POV wasn’t always clearly defined, and instead flowed between characters without distinct transitions. This is a great read, and I’ll be watching what Bennett does next.
